B. Sokpakbaev’s Novel Translated into Turkish

A presentation of Berdibek Sokpakbaev’s novel “The Dead Don’t Return,” translated into Turkish, took place in Almaty.

One of the most famous works by the classic Kazakh author Berdibek Sokpakbaev has been translated into Turkish.

The novel “The Dead Don’t Return” was published in Turkish with a circulation of 2,000 copies.

The event was attended by the Secretary General of the TURKSOY organization, the novel’s translator, Professor Hussein Varol, and representatives of the Kazakh intelligentsia.

“Working on the book was easy because our languages belong to the same language group. However, some difficulties arose when translating Kazakh proverbs and sayings. I wanted them to sound just as beautiful and profound in Turkish. This process turned out to be the most challenging part of the work on the book,” said Hussein Varol.

To date, the writer’s works have been translated into 68 languages.
