Azerbaijan’s Population Grows by Over 14,000 in First Half of the Year

Azerbaijan's population increased by 14,205 people, or 0.14%, since the beginning of the year, according to the country’s State Statistics Committee.

As of June 1, the total number of permanent residents reached 10,239,094.

Official figures show that 54.4% of the population lives in urban areas, while 45.6% resides in rural regions. The gender distribution is almost equal: 49.8% male and 50.2% female.

For context, in Kazakhstan, seven regions now have populations exceeding one million, and the capital Astana is projected to reach 3.5 million residents by 2050.
