Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers Resigns

Azerbaijan's Cabinet of Ministers, the executive branch of the government responsible for implementing policies and managing affairs of state, has formally resigned from their positions.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan has tendered its resignation, in accordance with Article 116 of the Constitution of Azerbaijan, which stipulates the resignation of the Cabinet upon the commencement of duties by the newly elected President, TuraNews.kz reports citing Trend.

Under Article 118 of the Constitution, the President of Azerbaijan appoints the Prime Minister with the approval of the Milli Majlis (parliament). Within one month of assuming office or no later than two weeks following the Cabinet’s resignation, the President must submit a nominee for Prime Minister to the Milli Majlis for consideration.

The Milli Majlis is required to make a decision on the Prime Minister’s candidacy within one week of its submission. However, should the proposed candidates fail to secure approval three times, the President reserves the right to appoint a Prime Minister without the parliament’s consent.

This announcement follows the inauguration ceremony of President Ilham Aliyev on February 14, which took place at the Milli Majlis.
