According to Sputnik Georgia, the relevant order was signed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
SOCAR is currently the primary supplier of natural gas, oil, and oil products to Georgia.
The sale involves the privatization of 41 gas pipelines in the Imereti, Guria, and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti regions. The deal spans 17 years, with payments to the Georgian state beginning in 2032. The company will pay nearly two million lari annually over the next 10 years.
SOCAR subsidiaries are involved in expanding and modernizing gas distribution networks in Georgia, developing filling stations under the SOCAR brand, and operating an oil terminal in the Georgian Black Sea port of Kulevi, through which Azerbaijani oil and oil products are transshipped to international markets.
