Azerbaijan has pledged $7.6 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine, President Ilham Aliyev announced on Monday. The aid will be used to purchase and ship electrical equipment to Ukraine, Turanews.kz reports.
“The President’s reserve fund provided for in the state budget of Azerbaijan will allocate $7.6 million in manat equivalent to the energy ministry of the republic,” Aliyev said in a statement.
The aid will be used to purchase power transformers and generators, which are essential for restoring power in areas that have been damaged by the war. The equipment will also be used to provide electricity to hospitals, schools, and other critical infrastructure.
This is not the first time that Azerbaijan has provided humanitarian aid to Ukraine. In December 2022, the country sent Ukraine a humanitarian cargo consisting of electrical equipment worth more than $800,000.
The aid is expected to be delivered to Ukraine in the coming weeks.
