Azerbaijan Launches Defense Dialogue with China
Azerbaijan has initiated a defense industry dialogue with China, viewing it as a promising step in light of its ongoing military modernization. Speaking at the “New World Order” forum in Baku, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized interest in transport logistics and joint production with China.

“We’ve begun defense dialogue, which we consider promising as we are upgrading our Armed Forces. Geography of supply routes and joint production are key areas of interest,” he said.
Aliyev highlighted the 2024 declaration on strategic partnership between Baku and Beijing, calling it a significant milestone in bilateral relations.
He also noted that Chinese companies have been invited as strategic partners, especially in green energy. Azerbaijan plans to begin producing eco-friendly public transport vehicles this year and import solar panels involving Chinese firms.
Baku is also in talks with Chinese companies on direct investments in renewable energy and cooperation in cargo transport, including the Middle Corridor route. Aliyev told CGTN he expects freight volumes on this route to multiply over the next 5–6 years.
