Azerbaijan has supplied more than 444 million cubic meters of natural gas to Serbia over the past two years, as energy cooperation between the two countries continues to deepen.
The figures were announced following a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Serbia’s Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović, according to official sources.
During the talks, both sides подчеркнули the importance of high-level political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Serbia in strengthening their strategic partnership.
Officials noted that the first meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council, co-chaired by the presidents of both countries and held in Belgrade in February, gave fresh momentum to bilateral energy ties. An intergovernmental agreement on a gas-fired power plant and the launch of a joint working group on energy cooperation in March were also highlighted.
The discussions covered a broad range of areas, including oil and gas, energy infrastructure, electricity generation, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and district heating.
Particular attention was paid to the ongoing gas power plant project in Serbia, as well as opportunities within the “Caspian–Black Sea–Europe” green energy corridor initiative.
The Serbian side was also invited to take part with an expanded delegation in upcoming events within the Baku Energy Week.
