Attempt to Smuggle Goods from Kazakhstan into Kyrgyzstan Foiled
A truck carrying smuggled consumer goods was intercepted at the Kyrgyzstan-Kazakhstan border.
According to the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, border guards detained a Volkswagen cargo minibus on July 20 at the Karkyra Avtodorozhny checkpoint in the Issyk-Kul region. The vehicle was traveling from Kazakhstan.
The driver, a Kyrgyz citizen, attempted to bring a large quantity of motorcycles, clothing, and other consumer goods into Kyrgyzstan without the required documentation.
“Investigative and operational measures have been launched to identify all individuals involved in this illegal act and to determine the amount of damage caused by the non-payment of mandatory taxes and other contributions,” the committee stated.
