Astana to Host Variety of Sports Events in April-May

The capital city Astana is gearing up to host several exciting sports events in April and May, offering something for everyone, from chess tournaments to charity races.

In April, the city will witness a personal chess tournament commemorating the 100th anniversary of Sagadat Nurmagambetov, a Soviet hero. Additionally, a running competition titled “100 Days Before the Olympic Games” will take place on April 17, featuring various sports competitions and a lottery for participants. Moreover, the “Senat Open” chess cup will see politicians and deputies competing on April 27.

As May approaches, Astana will see more action-packed events. A relay race honoring Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War will be held on May 9, followed by the prestigious judo tournament “Qazaqstan Barysy Grand Slam” from May 10 to 12. This tournament is crucial for athletes aiming to qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

May will also witness the “Run for Autism” marathon on May 18, aimed at raising awareness about autism and supporting individuals with this diagnosis. The Astana Half Marathon, a popular event attracting runners from around the world, is scheduled for May as well. Additionally, the city will host the Elorda Cup boxing tournament and the opening of the mass bike ride season.

With an array of sports competitions and charity events, Astana promises an exciting and active spring season for residents and visitors alike.
