Astana to host next round of talks on Syria
The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aibek Smadiyarov, in the weekly press briefing, stated that which issues will be raised at meeting of the Syrian process which’ll take place in the capital, reports Turanews.kz citing KazInform.kz.
“In the framework of the Astana Platfrom, the next meeting on Syria will held on 22-23 November in the capital of Kazakhstan. The delegations from Russia, Türkiye, Iran, the Government of Syria and Syrian opposition will take part in the meeting. The representatives of the UN, Jordan, Lebanon an Iraq will attend it as observers.” Smadiyarov said.
The agenda will include the following issues:
- the situation in Syria, including humanitarian and socio-economic;
- comprehensive promotion of the political process;
confidence-building measures, including the release of hostages and the search for missing persons; - mobilizing the efforts of the international community with the aim of post-conflict reconstruction of Syria and creating conditions for the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland.
In addition, a meeting on victims of enforced disappearance will also be held between the delegations of the guarantor countries and the representatives of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Red Cross.
