The Dialogue of Women of Central Asia is an informal platform for discussing topical issues of development and strengthening cooperation between women parliamentarians in the region, Turanews.kz reports.
Speaking at the meeting, UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Kazakhstan Mikaela Friberg-Story, “Kazakhstan is taking over the chairmanship of this important dialogue, building on the excellent work that has been done by Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and we look forward to seeing how the work develops in the coming years,” she said.
The Dialogue of Women of Central Asian countries was initiated in 2020 by the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) and the Regional Office of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States. The Dialogue aims at realizing the creative and peacemaking potential of women to support efforts on strengthening peace, prosperity and sustainable development in the Central Asian countries and all over the world.
The Dialogue was officially launched in December 2020. In 2021 Uzbekistan and in 2022 Turkmenistan chaired the Dialogue.
