Astana Hosts Extended Meeting on Preparations for the 5th World Nomad Games

In Astana, a comprehensive meeting chaired by Minister of Tourism and Sports Ermek Marzhikpayev took place to review the progress of preparations for the upcoming 5th World Nomad Games, TuraNews.kz reports.

The gathering brought together key figures, including the leadership of the Association of National Sports, the directorate for the World Nomad Games, the director of the Center for National and Equestrian Sports, and the presidents of federations of national sports.

Minister Ermek Marzhikpayev highlighted the significance of the event, emphasizing President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s acknowledgment of the major sporting occasion in a recent interview with the Egemen Kazakhstan newspaper. With less than a year remaining until the games commence, Marzhikpayev stressed the need to ensure the successful execution of the 5th World Nomad Games, aligning with the expectations set by the Head of State.

“The 5th World Nomad Games must be held at a high level. Therefore, we must clearly define the progress made to date and the tasks ahead. All remaining issues must be addressed promptly. While preparations are on track, the training of national sports teams should be of the highest standard. Athletes must be provided with top-quality conditions, and all financial matters must be resolved,” stated the minister during the meeting.

The 5th World Nomad Games are anticipated to attract delegations from over 100 countries. The unique nature of the event lies in its integration of sports, cultural, and scientific programs. The game plan encompasses 20 competitive and 10 demonstration sports, with 110 sets of medals up for contention. Equestrian sports, national wrestling, archery, various types of bird hunting, and traditional intellectual games are among the competitions scheduled.

As part of the preparations, the list of participating athletes and the roster of sports competitions included in the unified republican calendar of sports events for 2024 have already been approved. Athletes from national teams are set to participate in a series of international and local training camps, as well as numerous competitions, both domestic and international, starting from January 2024.
