Astana Hosts CICA Volunteer Gathering

The Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Volunteer Gathering has begun in Astana, bringing together over 450 delegates from 21 countries, including Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Sri Lanka, China, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Thailand, Tajikistan, and Bahrain.

Organized by the CICA Youth Council, the event focuses on discussing the key role of volunteering in achieving sustainable development goals. On the first day, delegates attended a meeting on the theme “The Importance of Volunteering in Society: Promoting Sustainable Development in Asian Countries.” Special attention was given to intercultural dialogue and enhancing cooperation among the participating countries.

The gathering featured discussions on various topics, including social and inclusive volunteering, innovative approaches to intellectual volunteering, the role of volunteers in healthcare, emergency volunteering, and environmental protection efforts.

By the end of the first day, participants had begun developing joint recommendations aimed at advancing volunteering within the CICA framework. Today, they will continue discussions on expanding cooperation and sharing experiences in volunteer initiatives.
