Astana Airport Set for Modernization Initiatives Starting Spring 2024
Astana Airport is gearing up for a substantial overhaul with the initiation of plans to reconstruct its current runway. The existing runway, which has been in operation for two decades, has previously only undergone routine maintenance on its airfield pavements. The shift in the airport’s management to an investor under trust management has elevated the reconstruction of the runway to a pivotal and top-priority goal, TuraNews.kz reports citing the press service of Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Chaired by Vice Minister of Transport Talgat Lastaev, a comprehensive meeting was conducted at Astana Airport, bringing together various government bodies and organizations involved in the preparation for the reconstruction project.
Terminals Holding, the company overseeing the venture, presented a detailed schedule outlining the preparatory, construction, and installation phases. The commencement of the reconstruction is slated for the end of March this year, with the entire project expected to conclude in the spring of 2025. Importantly, private funds from the investor will be utilized for the implementation of this crucial initiative.
The reconstruction initiative is anticipated to significantly enhance flight safety and boost the transit potential of the air harbor, contributing to the overall improvement of airport facilities.
