Another Earthquake Strikes Tajikistan

An earthquake measuring 4.5 in magnitude struck Tajikistan during the night of April 14, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).

The tremor occurred at 00:44 UTC (05:44 Kazakhstan time), 23 kilometers from the town of Rasht. The epicenter was located at a depth of 5 kilometers, DW noted.

Just a day earlier, on April 13, Tajikistan experienced two other earthquakes. Their epicenters were also near Rasht, about 180 kilometers east of the capital Dushanbe.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the first quake occurred at 09:24 local time and registered a magnitude of 5.8. It was felt in neighboring Uzbekistan, where residents in Tashkent reported a magnitude 2-level tremor.

The second earthquake happened at 12:14 local time and was measured at a magnitude of 4.2 by EMSC. Its epicenter was located 40 kilometers east of Rasht.

Reports indicate that the morning quake on April 13 damaged 29 residential buildings and one educational institution.
