Albino Python Smuggling Attempt from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan Thwarted
A three-meter-long albino tiger python, a species listed in the International Red Book, was discovered being smuggled into Uzbekistan from Kazakhstan inside an ordinary bag. The incident occurred at the "Gisht-Kuprik" border customs post in the Tashkent region.
According to the Tashkent region customs department, the snake was found during an inspection of the bag using control and X-ray equipment. The man carrying the bag, who had entered from Kazakhstan, failed to declare the reptile either orally or in the customs declaration.
As the albino tiger python is a protected species, transporting it requires an international permit, which the man did not possess. A preliminary investigation is currently underway to determine the next steps in handling the case.
