Air passengers will be able to receive compensation of up to 600 euros for flight delays in Türkiye

A new regulation requiring airlines in Türkiye to compensate passengers for delayed flights up to €600 has come into effect this week.

According to the regulation, airlines must compensate passengers if a flight is delayed by three hours or more due to technical issues.

The compensation amount depends on the distance of the flight. For routes exceeding 1,500 kilometers, passengers are entitled to €250. Flights between 1,500 and 3,000 kilometers warrant €400, while international flights longer than 3,500 kilometers qualify for compensation of €600.

The payments will be made in Turkish lira, based on the exchange rate set by Türkiye’s Central Bank.
