In Istanbul, Türkiye, a meeting transpired involving Serik Zharasbayev, the Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, Nail Nurov, the head of the Directorate for the preparation and hosting of the 5th World Nomad Games, and Bilal Erdogan, the President of the World Ethnosports Confederation. The discussions encompassed a broad spectrum of topics related to the upcoming event.
Vice Minister Serik Zharasbayev provided insights into the proactive efforts underway in Kazakhstan for the preparation of the World Nomad Games, highlighting the initiation of the first wave of information campaigns. Given the global significance of the 5th World Nomad Games, considerations were made regarding the comprehensive coverage of the opening and closing ceremonies, along with the progress of the competitions, on leading international television channels.
Bilal Erdogan, acknowledging the growing bilateral partnerships, particularly underscored that organizing the nomad games stands as one of Kazakhstan’s promising initiatives to propel the ethnosports movement on a global scale. Additionally, it was announced that the Kazakh delegation will actively participate in the Congress of the World Ethnic Sports Confederation scheduled from February 16 to 18.
The meeting, attended by representatives from the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan, reiterated the extensive preparations for the 5th World Nomad Games, anticipating the involvement of around 4,000 athletes from over 100 countries.
The event is slated to take place in Astana from September 8 to 14, 2024, under the theme “Uly dala dubiri” – “Meeting in the great steppe.”
