40th Anniversary of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Independence Celebrated in Baku

Baku commemorated the 40th anniversary of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) with a celebratory event, TuraNews.kz reports.

During the event, Ufuk Turganer, the head of the TRNC representative office in Azerbaijan, addressed the attendees, stating, “Not a single country in the Turkic world has come to terms with occupation or slavery. Both Azerbaijan and Northern Cyprus are such countries.” Turganer extended congratulations to the Azerbaijani people and state on the restoration of territorial integrity, highlighting the familial ties between Azerbaijan and the TRNC.

In her speech, Turganer delved into the history of TRNC’s independence and its subsequent development. She expressed gratitude for the consistent support from Turkey, emphasizing its significant value to her country. Turganer also referenced President Ersin Tatar’s recent visit to Azerbaijan in October, emphasizing the potential for further diversification in cooperation between the two nations.

Samed Seyidov, the chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on International Relations and Interparliamentary Relations, also addressed the gathering. He highlighted the robust ties between Azerbaijan and the Republic of Northern Cyprus, noting the ongoing development of political connections. Seyidov emphasized Azerbaijan’s support for Northern Cyprus and celebrated the historic event of the country’s election as an observer member of the Organization of Turkish States.
