4.7 Magnitude Aftershock Strikes 255km Southeast of Almaty, Kazakhstan

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 struck today, March 15, 2024, at 07:47 local time, as reported by the seismic monitoring network.

The quake’s epicenter was located approximately 255 kilometers southeast of Almaty, China, and was classified as an aftershock.

Seismologists have determined the earthquake’s energy class to be 10.7, with a magnitude of MPV 4.7. The coordinates of the epicenter were recorded at 41.17° N and 78.34° E, with a depth of 5 kilometers.
