This major event will feature over 2,000 participants from 89 countries, with expectations for more than 100,000 tourists to attend both the sports competitions and cultural events, TuraNews.kz reports citing the Directorate of the 5th World Nomad Games.
The games will showcase 21 sports, including horse racing, national wrestling, traditional intellectual games, martial arts, archery, bird hunting, horseback riding, and various folk games. These events aim to celebrate and preserve the traditional sports and cultural practices of nomadic peoples.
An ethno-village named “Universe of Nomads” will be set up in Astana, offering visitors an immersive experience into the culture and traditions of the Kazakh people and other participating nations. The ethno-village is expected to attract over 10,000 residents and visitors daily.
The games will be held under the theme “Uly Dala Dubiri,” which translates to “Meeting in the Great Steppe.” Additionally, an international scientific and practical conference titled “Nomads: History, Knowledge, Lessons” will take place at the National Museum from September 9 to 11. The conference will feature sessions on “History and Culture,” “Sports Science,” and “Nutrition of Nomads of Central Asia,” highlighting the academic and cultural aspects of nomadic life.
The 5th World Nomad Games promise to be a vibrant celebration of traditional sports and cultural heritage, drawing participants and spectators from around the world.
