2025 Asian Youth Games to Be Held in Bahrain Instead of Uzbekistan

The Olympic Council of Asia has announced that the 2025 Asian Youth Games, originally planned to be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, will now take place in Bahrain. This decision was made during the Executive Committee meeting of the Olympic Council of Asia on December 2.

The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan stated that the Olympic village in Tashkent would not be completed on time. As a result, the games, scheduled for September 2025, cannot be rescheduled and the tournament will be hosted by Bahrain.

The Bahrain Olympic Committee confirmed its readiness to host the 2025 Games, ensuring the necessary sports infrastructure, accommodations, and medical services.

In response to the decision, the Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan emphasized that the Tashkent Olympic Village, currently under construction, is not only intended to host the Asian Youth Games but will also serve as a scientific and methodological cluster for the development of sports in Uzbekistan. The complex will house sports academies, the Ministry of Sports, federations, and sports medicine centers.

Additionally, due to post-pandemic restrictions, there were disruptions in the supply of equipment needed for the construction of the Olympic Village, leading to delays. Uzbekistan had requested the IOC to postpone the games by another year.
