Around 16,000 residents of Türkiye sustained cuts during animal sacrifices on the first day of the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha, according to Fahrettin Koca, the head of the Ministry of Health.

“The reason for such injuries is that animals are slaughtered by non-professionals,” Koca wrote on social media.

Those injured sought medical assistance, with the highest number of wounded recorded in Ankara (1,274 people), followed by Istanbul (840 people), and Izmir (416 people).

Additionally, in Istanbul, one person died of a heart attack at a slaughterhouse, and another man was hospitalized with a heart attack after visiting the slaughterhouse, reported the TRT Haber news channel.
