President Tokayev Proposes Candidates for Vice President and Prime Minister at Kurultai Meeting
At a meeting of the Kurultai, in accordance with Article 46 of the Constitution, the President coordinated with deputies the candidacies for the posts of Vice President and Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that the Vice President is designed to play a special role in the state governance system, helping maintain a balance between the branches of power while working closely with both the parliamentary body and the Government. Under the Constitution, the Vice President will also carry out other tasks assigned by the Head of State.
The President nominated Erlan Tynymbaiuly Karin for the post of Vice President:
“Erlan Karin is well known throughout the country. He has worked for many years in the state administration system, possesses broad erudition, rich experience, and is a true patriot. He participated in the practical implementation of large-scale reforms and holds a clear vision for the long-term state strategy and socio-economic development prospects of the country. Therefore, I consider Erlan Tynymbaiuly Karin worthy of this post and ask the Kurultai to support his candidacy,” the Head of State said.
Next, taking into account the views of the leaders of political party factions in the Kurultai, the President nominated Olzhas Abaevich Bektenov for the position of Prime Minister:
“He is a statesman, a competent specialist, and a true professional who treats his duties with high responsibility. Previously, he also worked productively at the head of the Government. As you well know, the country currently faces large-scale tasks, which I addressed in detail at the first meeting of the Kurultai. Today, Kazakhstan has virtually become one massive construction site where various infrastructure projects are being realized. At the same time, much remains to be done. Issues related to strengthening the country’s Independence and Sovereignty and advancing the development of the state remain highly relevant. We must all unite our efforts to successfully address these matters,” stated Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Following the voting, the deputies supported by a majority vote the candidacy of Erlan Karin for Vice President and Olzhas Bektenov for Prime Minister.
The Head of State thanked the Kurultai deputies for supporting the candidates for Vice President and Prime Minister.
