OTS Secretary General received the European Parliament delegation

A delegation headed by member of the European Parliament (MEP) Mr. Ryszard Czarnecki paid a courtesy visit to the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev on 11 January 2023 at the OTS Secretariat in Istanbul.

MEP Ryszard Czarnecki congratulated Ambassador Omuraliyev for his appointment to the post of the Secretary General of the OTS and wished him success during his term in the office.

Secretary General Omuraliev informed the EP delegation about the activities of the OTS and uttered that the OTS is open for closer cooperation with the European Union (EU) particularly in the areas of common interest including trade, transport and energy.

As the Head of the EU-Kazakhstan and EU-Türkiye friendship groups and the founding chair of the EU-Uzbekistan friendship group in the EP, MEP Czarnecki invited Secretary General Omuraliev to the European Parliament and stated that a robust partnership between the OTS and the EP would carry forward the ongoing cooperation of the EU with the OTS Member States.

The Parties also exchanged views on the possible avenues and forms of cooperation between the OTS and the EP.
