Türkiye Aims to Strengthen Digital Sovereignty Amid Hybrid Conflict Threats

Burhanettin Duran, Head of the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, has called for immediate legislative action to bolster Türkiye's digital sovereignty.

Speaking on the strategic importance of cyberspace, Duran noted that it is now a critical component of national sovereignty requiring robust legal and institutional frameworks. Türkiye faces diverse digital challenges, ranging from online child protection to the security of essential government networks.

Duran highlighted the influential role of social media algorithms in shaping public perception, warning that these platforms are increasingly utilized as weapons in hybrid warfare.

As modern conflicts move beyond conventional military tactics into the digital realm, Türkiye plans to implement urgent measures to manage public opinion and safeguard its cyber environment from external manipulation.
