Belarus to Establish Consulate General in Almaty as Economic Ties Reach New Heights

During a high-level meeting in Astana, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov to discuss the expanding strategic partnership between the two nations.
A significant outcome of the talks was the President’s approval for Belarus to open a Consulate General in Almaty, a move expected to significantly bolster regional and business ties.
Economic cooperation has seen a remarkable surge, with bilateral trade growing by 30% in 2025 to reach $1.2 billion. President Tokayev emphasized the need to further diversify Kazakh exports and deepen collaboration in industrial cooperation, transport, and agriculture. Minister Ryzhenkov conveyed warm greetings from President Alexander Lukashenko, noting that the personal rapport between the two heads of state serves as a foundation for the successful implementation of large-scale social and economic projects.
