Turkic World Unites in Almaty for the Spectacular Orleu Choreography Festival

The cultural heart of Almaty beat to the rhythm of the steppe as the VII International Festival of Choreographic Educational Institutions, "ORLEU: Echo of Turkic Dances," took center stage.

As one of Central Asia’s premier cultural-educational projects, this year’s festival was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the legendary Kazakh poet and people’s writer, Olzhas Suleimenov. The event served as a powerful testament to the shared history and cultural bonds that link Turkic nations through the art of movement.

Dignitaries and dance delegations from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Bashkortostan, and the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) joined their Kazakh counterparts in a vibrant display of both classical ballet and traditional folk dance.

Beyond the performances, the festival featured intensive masterclasses and expert-led roundtables focused on preserving intangible cultural heritage in a modern world. The celebration culminated in a breathtaking gala concert at the Almaty Theatre, showcasing the rich diversity of Turkic choreography to an international audience.
