Suspect in Major Fraud Case Extradited from Türkiye to Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan has secured the extradition of a citizen accused of large-scale fraud from Türkiye. The operation was carried out by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the assistance of Interpol and the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Turkey.

According to investigators, between 2019 and 2020 the suspect allegedly defrauded four residents of Shymkent, unlawfully obtaining money and land plots. The total damage is estimated at around 95 million tenge.

After the crimes were committed, the suspect fled abroad and was placed on an international wanted list. He was later detained in Antalya and extradited to Kazakhstan at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The suspect has been placed in pre-trial detention. If convicted, he faces between seven and twelve years in prison, along with confiscation of property.
