In Uzbekistan, pedophiles may soon face life imprisonment. The announcement was made during a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, according to Kazinform.
During the session, proposals were presented to strengthen penalties for violence against women and children. In particular, the president expressed support for introducing life imprisonment for crimes involving pedophilia.
It is worth recalling that in October last year, Legislative Chamber deputy Dilnoza Azizova proposed imposing life sentences on those convicted of sexual violence against minors.
Earlier reports also indicated that Uzbekistan plans to hold individuals accountable for promoting armed conflicts abroad.
