Türkiye Advances Earthquake Recovery: Thousands Of Homes Delivered To Survivors
According to Anadolu Agency, Türkiye’s large-scale reconstruction drive launched after the devastating February 6, 2023 earthquake is delivering tangible results. Modern housing units built by the Housing Development Administration (TOKİ) are being gradually handed over to rightful owners.
Coordinated by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the initiative has led to the construction of thousands of earthquake-resistant homes in both urban centers and rural areas. Official figures indicate that nearly 95% of affected families have now been provided with safe and comfortable housing.
All newly constructed buildings comply with strict seismic standards and incorporate advanced engineering technologies. The program also includes the development of modern schools, social facilities and upgraded transport infrastructure. Thousands of additional units remain under construction and are expected to be completed soon.
Turkish authorities describe the effort as one of the largest and fastest post-disaster reconstruction campaigns globally. The affected regions are being rebuilt in line with new standards of urban resilience and safety, while also revitalizing local economic activity.
