The State Academic Concert Organization “Kazakhconcert” named after Roza Baglanova hosted the “Qobyz Soul – Dastur” concert by distinguished cultural figure Maksat Medeubek.
The evening introduced audiences to the rich history of the qobyz, exploring its origins and artistic features. The program included traditional compositions by Korkyt, Ykylas, Tattimbet and Mukhit, along with musical pieces from Karakalpak and Tatar heritage.
According to Medeubek, the project aims to promote qobyz art, expand its performance potential and support its further development. Historically associated with ancient spiritual traditions, the instrument is now evolving within the academic music sphere. Today, the qobyz is capable of interpreting works by Antonio Vivaldi, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn and Johann Sebastian Bach, while also demonstrating versatility in contemporary and crossover genres.
The concert highlighted Turkic musical traditions and showcased distinctive performance techniques rooted in the broader Turkic cultural world.
