Kazakhstan’s meteorological services have issued a forecast warning of deteriorating air quality in several cities across the country today.
According to the report, unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected on January 26, 2026, in Petropavl, Kokshetau, Karaganda, Zhezkazgan, Balkhash, Temirtau, Oral, Atyrau, Aktobe and Almaty. In addition, similar conditions are forecast overnight in Astana and Kostanay.
Unfavorable meteorological conditions occur when short-term weather factors such as calm air, light winds, fog and temperature inversions prevent the dispersion of pollutants, leading to increased concentrations of harmful substances near the ground.
During such periods, air quality in urban areas may significantly ухудшаться, potentially affecting public health, particularly for sensitive groups.
