
Kazakhstan is set to experience a sharp drop in temperatures in the coming days, with forecasters warning of extreme cold across several regions. Fog is expected in many parts of the country, while icy road conditions may develop in the southern and southeastern areas.
Over the next three days, atmospheric fronts will bring snowfall, blizzards, and stronger winds to much of the country. Southern regions are expected to see mixed precipitation, while heavy snow is forecast in mountainous areas on January 22.
According to Kazhydromet, a cold anticyclone moving from the Novaya Zemlya region will affect the northern half of Kazakhstan on January 22. Nighttime temperatures in these areas may fall to between –25°C and –38°C, with daytime temperatures ranging from –20°C to –30°C.
In contrast, western, southwestern, southern, and southeastern regions are expected to see a gradual rise in temperatures. Daytime readings in the south will range from –5°C to +3°C, in mountainous areas from –8°C to –13°C, and in western regions from –5°C to –13°C.
