
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited several pharmaceutical manufacturers in the Zhambyl region during his working trip, underscoring the strategic importance of strengthening domestic production to reduce dependence on imported medicines.
During the visit, the President toured Amir & D, a company specializing in the production of medical items and diagnostic tools. The plant manufactures rapid tests for socially significant diseases, including hepatitis B and C, HIV, myocardial infarction markers, as well as tests used to detect narcotic and psychotropic substances. The enterprise employs 94 specialists.
Tokayev was also briefed on the operations of Super-pharm, one of Kazakhstan’s leading producers of medical supplies. With a workforce exceeding 600 people, the company covers nearly 30% of the national demand for single-use medical products.
The Head of State emphasized that expanding the capabilities of Kazakhstan’s pharmaceutical sector is essential for reducing import reliance and reinforcing the country’s healthcare system.
