Uzbekistan Faces Ongoing Decline in Natural Gas Production

Uzbekistan produced 35.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas since the beginning of the year, marking a 5.3% decrease compared to the same period in 2024, according to the National Committee of Statistics.

Gas imports have also fallen, totaling just over $1.1 billion — about 16% less than last year. Official data shows that Uzbekistan reduced purchases of natural gas from both Russia and Turkmenistan. Gas condensate output also declined from 1 million tonnes to 930,900 tonnes.

Despite lower production and reduced imports, Uzbekistan increased its gas exports by 5.1%, earning $568.2 million.

Earlier reports indicated that between January and August, gas production in Uzbekistan had dropped by 7%, while fuel output fell by 14%.
