
Kazakhstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yerzhan Kosherbayev, held talks on 17 November with Bagdad Amreyev, President of the Turkic Investment Fund (TIF), to review the development of cooperation and follow up on agreements reached at the 12th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States held on 7 October in Gabala.
During the meeting, Minister Kosherbayev underscored Kazakhstan’s strong interest in strengthening the Fund, which he described as an emerging cornerstone of economic ties among Turkic and broader Islamic countries.
Bagdad Amreyev briefed the Kazakh side on the Fund’s ongoing institutionalization process and the formation of its investment project portfolio. The two officials also exchanged views on key economic priorities and potential collaboration between the Fund and major international financial institutions.
In particular, they discussed opportunities for joint work with Islamic finance bodies operating within the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, including the Islamic Development Bank and the Islamic Organisation for Food Security.
The Turkic Investment Fund was founded on 11 November 2022 at the 9th OTS Summit. Its members include Azerbaijan, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan. The Fund aims to stimulate economic growth in member states by increasing regional trade and supporting business activity across the Turkic world.
