Turkistan and Samarkand to Expand Cooperation in Tourism

As part of his visit to Uzbekistan, a delegation led by Nuralkhan Kosherov, Akim of Kazakhstan’s Turkistan Region, traveled to the city of Samarkand.

The Kazakh delegation toured key tourist sites and historical monuments in Samarkand, closely examining the region’s tourism potential. During visits to the Samarkand Tourism Academy and the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, the delegation received detailed briefings on recent reforms in Uzbekistan’s tourism sector, the progress achieved, and the country’s efforts in training industry specialists.

At a high-level meeting attended by Acting Governor of Samarkand Region Adiz Boboev and Turkistan Region Akim Nuralkhan Kosherov, the sides emphasized that the rapidly developing trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are giving strong momentum to interregional cooperation.

Samarkand Region expressed readiness to deepen partnerships with Turkistan across various sectors, noting that it already maintains close ties with several Kazakh regions.

Both sides agreed that strengthening cooperation in tourism would benefit both Samarkand and Turkistan, fully reflecting the long-standing friendship and good-neighborly relations between the Uzbek and Kazakh peoples.

Adiz Boboev and Nuralkhan Kosherov endorsed a number of proposals and initiatives in the tourism sector and signed a memorandum of cooperation.

The delegation from Turkistan also visited the Samarkand International Tourism Center, where they familiarized themselves with the visitor facilities and services provided in accordance with international standards.
