Kyrgyzstan Introduces New Generation of Passports and ID Cards

Starting from November 3, Kyrgyzstan has begun issuing updated 2025-design national passports and ID cards featuring enhanced security elements and a modernized layout.

The new-generation passports include more than 30 first- and second-level security features, along with numerous third-level protections. They incorporate innovative holograms and kinegrams, ultraviolet printing, a cryptographic chip, laser engraving of personal data, and two transparent windows on the data page — one of which features a traditional Kyrgyz ornament. The documents also contain unique optically variable visual elements that change appearance under different lighting conditions.

Each visa page showcases landmarks and cultural symbols from across Kyrgyzstan, such as the image of Manas, the “Yntymak Ordo” residence, the Khan-Tengri peak, the Aigul flower, and other historical and cultural motifs. These illustrations also serve as built-in security features.

The introduction of the new design aims to:
— Improve registration and monitoring of citizens crossing national borders;
— Strengthen the fight against transnational crime and illegal migration;
— Enhance protection against forgery and unauthorized use of documents;
— Increase the efficiency of migration control at border checkpoints.

Earlier, it was reported that Kyrgyzstan had begun exporting its passports to South Africa, underscoring the growing international recognition of the country’s secure document production capabilities.
