A 6.1-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Türkiye’s Balıkesir Province

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake shook settlements across Türkiye’s Marmara and Aegean regions, according to Anadolu Agency. The tremor was strongly felt in Istanbul and Izmir.

The quake occurred at 22:48 local time in the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir Province. According to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.1 and struck at a depth of 5.99 kilometers.
