President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev Welcomes Ilham Aliyev at Akorda Residence
The official welcoming ceremony for the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, who is in Kazakhstan for a state visit, took place at the Akorda presidential residence. Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev personally greeted the distinguished guest.
The protocol events commenced with President Tokayev and President Aliyev introducing the members of their respective official delegations. Following this, in the Hall of Solemn Ceremonies, the head of the Honour Guard delivered a salute to the two heads of state. The Presidential Orchestra performed the national anthems of both countries.
After the anthems concluded, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the President of Azerbaijan proceeded along the carpet to the State Flag of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The esteemed guest paused before the flag and inclined his head as a mark of respect.
The Heads of State then inspected the formation of the Honour Guard, concluding the formal reception ceremony.
It is reported that the leaders of the two countries are currently holding bilateral talks. These discussions will be followed by the second meeting of the Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan Supreme Interstate Council.
It is worth noting that Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had personally met the high-ranking guest at the Astana airport yesterday. Prior to the state visit, President Aliyev gave an exclusive interview where he spoke highly of the elevated political dialogue, the dynamic development of cooperation in transport, logistics, and oil and gas sectors, as well as the prospects for joint work in “green” energy and initiatives within the Organization of Turkic States.
