Early Elections of Kyrgyz Parliament Set for November 30

Deputies of the Kyrgyz Parliament (Jogorku Kenesh) decided on September 25 to dissolve themselves, scheduling snap elections for November 30.

Parliament Speaker Nurlanbek announced that the elections will be held on that date, stressing they will be conducted in a clean and transparent manner. He dismissed rumors that some deputies allegedly received bata (blessings) from the President, military generals, or the Speaker himself.

“Blessings are given only by the people. The government’s sole objective is to ensure open and transparent elections,” Nurlanbek said.

He also underlined that all parliamentary powers remain in effect until the next convocation of the Jogorku Kenesh, and in case of emergency, he has the authority to convene an extraordinary session.
