Kazakhstan Approves National Standards for AI Integration in Education

Kazakhstan has officially adopted national standards for the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into its education system for 2025–2029. The joint order was signed by Minister of Education Gani Beisembayev and Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry Zhaslan Madiev.

The initiative, developed under the President’s directive, sets out a unified national framework for the use of AI in schools and colleges. It addresses ethical guidelines, legal regulation, personal data protection, and academic integrity.

The roadmap includes the introduction of AI topics into school curricula, creation of digital textbooks, AI literacy training, project-based learning, and teacher training under the Acquire → Deepen → Create model.

“Artificial intelligence will not replace teachers but rather strengthen their role. Human educators will continue to make all key decisions in the learning process,” Minister Beisembayev noted.

Starting from the 2025–2026 academic year, elements of AI will be included in the subjects Digital Literacy and Informatics. Schoolchildren will have access to Day of AI online courses, while teachers will benefit from dedicated professional development programs.
