Kazakhstan bans exports of selected types of timber
Kazakhstan has imposed ban on export of certain types of timber to prevent illegal re-export of timber from its territory.
The ban was imposed by the order of Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development. The export of fuel and raw wood will be prohibited in the next six months. The ban does not apply to tram and railway sleepers.
The ban is imposed in order to prevent illegal re-export, as well as to support the domestic timber industry.
