Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan Launch Joint Venture for Green Energy Corridor

Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan have officially launched a joint venture under the initiative "Azerbaijan–Central Asia: Green Energy Corridor".

The agreement was signed in Baku with the participation of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy, Kazakhstan’s grid operator, “Azerenerji” JSC, and Uzbekistan’s National Electric Networks.

The new company, named “Yaşıl Dəhliz Birliyi”, aims to develop cross-border infrastructure to transport renewable energy across the region. According to Azerbaijani Deputy Energy Minister Elnur Soltanov, the initiative is also part of preparations for the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29), set for November.

“This union not only brings us closer to shared environmental goals, but also strengthens regional energy cooperation,” Soltanov stated.

The headquarters of the new venture will be based in Baku. Farhad Mammadov has been appointed as its head, responsible for overseeing strategy and project implementation. Officials from all three countries emphasized the alignment of this project with their national energy transition plans.

The move follows a memorandum signed in April between the three countries and Asian development banks, further solidifying their commitment to green energy expansion.
