Ten Regions in Kazakhstan Achieve 100% Urban Water Supply Coverage

Kazakhstan’s Minister of Industry and Construction, Ersayyn Nagaspayev, announced at a government meeting that ten regions have achieved full access to drinking water in all urban areas, according to UKIMET's Telegram channel.

The regions include Almaty, Aktobe, Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda, Mangystau, North Kazakhstan, Turkistan, Zhetysu, and Ulytau. In Mangystau, rural areas have also reached full coverage.

Currently, 99.3% of Kazakhstan’s urban population has access to drinking water. Out of 90 cities, 73 are fully supplied. The remaining 17, including Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, Karaganda, and Semey, are expected to reach full coverage by year’s end.

In rural areas, 97.5% of residents—5679 out of 6148 villages—have access to water. Most are connected to centralized systems, while others use modular units. Work is ongoing in 469 remaining villages using national and local funding.
