Türkiye’s Medical Tourism Sector Sees Rapid Growth

Türkiye welcomed 1.5 million medical tourists in 2024, generating $3 billion in revenue from healthcare-related travel, according to the country’s Ministry of Trade.

Since 2012, the number of foreign patients coming to Türkiye has increased sixfold, while the export of medical services has quadrupled. These figures highlight improvements in medical infrastructure, international cooperation, and service quality.

High-demand areas include plastic surgery, dentistry, ophthalmology, orthopedics, cancer treatment, and reproductive health procedures. Patients are arriving not only from the Middle East and Europe, but also from the U.S., CIS countries, Asia, and Africa.

Experts attribute Türkiye’s success to modern clinics, skilled professionals, minimal waiting times, and competitive pricing. The government also supports the sector with favorable legislation and logistical infrastructure.
