Kyrgyzstan to Build All-Season Ski Resort in Issyk-Kul

The complex is expected to host approximately 2 million tourists.

A major new ski resort named Ala-Too Resort is set to rise in Kyrgyzstan’s Issyk-Kul region, combining the mountain areas of Jyrgalan, Ak-Bulak, and Boz-Uchuk, according to Kabar News Agency.

Planned to accommodate up to 2 million tourists annually, the future complex will be fully state-funded and is expected to become the largest ski destination in Central Asia. The total length of ski slopes will span 250 kilometers.

President Sadyr Japarov stated that the first cableway in Jyrgalan will be completed by July 2026, with the first phase opening in December 2026. The government is covering the costs of the initial stage.

The second phase (Ak-Bulak) is scheduled for 2027, and the third (Boz-Uchuk) by 2028. All routes will eventually form a unified system.

To finance the later stages, land plots will be auctioned online in June. Winners will be required to construct facilities within two years. Proceeds will go toward funding the remaining construction phases.

Minister of Construction Nurdan Oruntaev revealed that, following a study visit to France’s Courchevel resort, 30–40% of the initial plans were revised to make the Kyrgyz resort attractive for both winter and summer tourism.
