CACCC-2025: Central Asia Unites to Mobilize Climate Finance

May 13–15, 2025, the 7th Central Asian Conference on Climate Change (CACCC-2025) is taking place in Ashgabat, focusing on one of the most pressing challenges for the region — mobilizing climate finance to support national and regional climate action.

Against the backdrop of unprecedented global temperature records and increasing climate risks, the conference has brought together over 200 participants from Central Asian governments, parliaments, international organizations, financial institutions, research centers, and civil society.

A key theme of CACCC-2025 is the implementation of outcomes from COP29 and preparation for COP30, including assessing progress on National Adaptation Plans and the development of Updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs 3.0). The event also aims to define regional strategies in line with the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) on climate finance.

Special emphasis was placed on integrating national climate priorities into regional frameworks and sharing best practices for transitioning to low-carbon development models.

The Kazakhstan delegation, led by Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources M. Oshurbaev, included representatives from government bodies, NGOs, research institutions, and the Parliament.

In his speech, the Vice Minister highlighted Kazakhstan’s intention to host a Regional Climate Summit in 2026, positioning it as a strategic platform for advancing regional dialogue and coordination on climate action.

Kazakhstan’s Ministry also hosted a side event titled “Green Bridge: Innovative Technologies for Accelerating NDC Implementation”, which showcased the Green Bridge Partnership Program (GBPP) — a digital platform designed to strengthen regional cooperation through the transfer of climate technologies.
