Iran Boosts Imports from Tajikistan by Nearly 18%

Iran’s imports from Tajikistan rose by 17.8% in value and 34.5% in volume during the past Iranian year (March 20, 2024 – March 20, 2025), compared to the previous year, Trend reports, citing data from Iran’s Customs Administration.

According to the report, Iran imported 39.9 thousand tons of goods from Tajikistan worth $90.2 million. Key imports included cotton, silk fabrics, and various types of equipment.

Overall, non-oil trade between Iran and Tajikistan totaled 528 thousand tons, valued at $393 million.

In the same year, Iran’s total imports stood at 39 million tons, worth approximately $66.3 billion, reflecting a 9.77% increase in value and a 4.39% increase in volume year-on-year.

Iran prioritizes the import of essential goods and places restrictions on products that are manufactured domestically.
